Can We Be Grateful for Change?

Change is often met with anxiety and negative emotions, yet this doesn't have to be the case. When we finally see what's really happening, the benefits flood our way to new beginnings and letting go of what no longer serves us.

At different points in our lives, we are faced with unwanted or unexpected changes. And even when we know they are coming, we still struggle with the internal battle that may arise from within.

Unwanted or unexpected changes could be illness, career, family, divorce, housing, friends, or any other interpersonal relationship that is part of our lives.

That internal battle resulting from imminent change could strike a nerve, make us question our value or worth, or pull us into a downward helpless spiral.

We have a choice on how to proceed… kick and scream like whining babies, cross our arms, throw a tantrum, lay in bed for days on end, and never want to get up, or any other self-sabotaging actions and behaviors.

On the other hand, this change could be something that is welcomed with an open mind, from a place of gratefulness, kicks you in the butt to change your life, or is a jumping-off point to make a needed change. All of which might be hard to realize initially when we face an unwanted or unexpected change, yet if we dig deeper, we can see things for what they really are and what is being presented to us.

No great thing in one’s life has come from a place of comfort and complacency. Things occur that force us to take action, be responsible for how our lives unfold, and call us to light up our own path in this world. Sitting around with the mindset of woe-is-me, the victim, someone's gotta save me, will never get us to where we want to be in life.

We have to ask ourselves, can we find the gratitude within the change? Or are we continually stuck on the negative? The choice is ours for how we proceed when we face uncertainty, unwanted, or unexpected changes.

If you're struggling, being caught between two worlds, reach out and set up a connect session to see what poison needs to be removed from your table. Your future self will thank you.

Thanks!

Alicia
