Your Art as a Medium to Heal program has changed my life. Everything got so limiting, painful and stuck, and all the joy was sucked out of my life. I didn’t realize parts of my life had such an impact on my day-to-day life causing such a grey cloud over everything. You helped me to step back and reevaluate everything and get out of the cycle of people-pleasing when it goes against how I really feel. I’m so happy your program combines mental, spiritual, and physical elements, many of which I lost sight of in my life. You have shown me to see and find who I truly am, how I want and need to live and be able to share my own gifts within my inner circle, community and family. Thank you! – Sarah K.
We have all experienced the need to let things go that no longer serve us in our personal lives and our careers. Many of us who have navigated this path have found it’s not an easy journey. We all know what we should do… but doing it and sticking with it is the hard part (think of quitting smoking, booze, losing weight, etc).
This change is accompanied by a cost, an exit fee, right of passage, or an emotional toll. We experience this cost when we give anything up that at one point guided us, served a need, or helped us pass the time.
We might feel that we lose a part of ourselves when we stop an addiction, end a relationship, loose a job, or change something that has been a part of our lives for a period of time. We don’t know what to do with our time and can feel like we’ve lost our way.
Our friends or family might even be unhappy with our change, think we are leaving them behind, and other people’s expectations and beliefs can act like a crab pulling us back into the crab trap (google “crab trap metaphor” and you’ll know exactly what I mean).
These things all come into play when we are trying to make a change. Many of us won’t let whatever “it” is go, unless they hit rock bottom or step on a landmine and life is falling apart.
Others just won’t pay the “cost” to regain choice in their lives, instead of letting others control them with expectations and opinions of who and what they should be.
· Why do we have to wait so long?
· What is holding us back?
· Why are we so afraid to have choice in our own lives?
· Why are we so afraid of change?
These questions we can all ask ourselves at different levels for many aspects of our lives, for both sides of the coin of life. (both negative and positive).
There is a whole new world waiting for us to take the leap, step into change, and to have something more fulfilling in our lives.
